(Note: I wrote this yesterday and by the time I finished it, the day was already gone)

This morning, I was discussing this verse with my mom:

“That Messiah may settle down and be at home in your hearts by faith.”

–Ephesians 3:16-17

We got to talking about how our hearts are like a cluttered house that is constantly falling apart. Imagine this: Dusty shelves and corners; floors that are chipped and worn; a ceiling about to cave in; faded walls. If you really think about it, how could anyone, let alone one as Holy as the Messiah live in such a place? Not to mention all the things stored away on shelves and in closets, things that we wouldn’t want Someone as pure and wholesome as Yahushua to see. With all of these things to consider, it makes you wonder why He would even want to visit a house such as this.

Thinking of one’s heart and mind in this aspect makes me feel insignificant and unworthy. But the truth of all this is, Yahushua didn’t come to the ones with clean and uncluttered hearts, He came to those who would open their homes to Him so that He might offer His assistance in cleaning and repairing. Yahushua Himself said in Mark 2:17,

“Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Yahushua wants to make a home out of your heart, a place where He can reside. It doesn’t matter how messy it is or how much of it is falling apart, He has come to repair and make it His own. He doesn’t mind that it may need repairs every so often because He knows the walls and floors are fragile.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and He with me.

Revelation 3:20

If He is knocking at the door of your heart, don’t be afraid to answer. He just wants to be a part of you so that He can make you whole. Let His love fill the spaces and crevices you are afraid to show Him, and He will offer you healing in return.

  1. Very good!! The goal– to ask Him to forgive and clean up your heart!
1 John 1:9 IF we confess our sins to him, THEN, he is faithful and just– to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
